Work on album #2 continues

Just wanted to drop a note that we're continuing to work on the second album. Progress is probably a little slower than I would have hoped, but things are definitely moving along. Many thanks to Dave Mauk and Brad Newsom for very kindly loading us some sweet gear to help out in our studio. We hope we do you proud.

We're doing up a couple shows in Philly in January (check out the Calendar for info) and are looking forward to them. We'll probably pick up a few more shows in the early part of the year in prep for the Delaware beach festival season. Keep an eye on this page for more updates.

Is Bos Taurus Working on Another Album??

The short answer is "yes". The somewhat longer answer is "Yes, after much deliberation concerning where and how we would accomplish this massive task."

And so, after said deliberation, we've decided to record the majority of the material ourselves (again), while leaving ourselves open to the possibility of doing some of the work in other studios. And, of course (really, obviously), we will have the record mastered by professionals (as we confess to not totally understanding that magical process).

The big difference between this venture and the first (the album, It's Plain -- see the Buy tab for info) is that we're upgrading our gear, which is part of the reason for our delayed project start. The delay has nothing to do with a lack of material. In fact, I've penned something like 16 songs in preparation for this album. Plus, given how long this will take (I'm guessing 6 to 8 months start-to-finish), I'm sure there will be a few more tunes added to the pile by the time all is said and done. Have no fear though - we'll whittle that down to a more streamlined # by press time.

So, keep an eye on the website to see how we're doing with it. Who know? Maybe we'll just post a little audio tidbit here and there along the way...

Demos added to the Bos Taurus Player!

My conscience got the best of me, and I JUST COULDN'T STAND IT ANY MORE!!!...So, I broke down and added a couple of demos to the Bos Taurus Player: Precious Pearls and Look Inside Yourself. I hope you like them. I recorded Precious Pearls several months ago; Look Inside Yourself only about a week ago. As always (so far, anyway) that's me on all instruments and vocals. I have about 10 or so more of these tunes awaiting a visit to a studio for professional recording. I expect that to happen in early summer.

Oh, It's Plain is the same old song penned for the first (and only, to date) album.

Bos Taurus plays the Delaware Music Festival and Wins a DMA

Due to lack of sleep, improper nutrition, and a host of other issues, it's taken me a week to recover from the Delaware Music Festival, held at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach, DE on 4/3-4/4/09. But now that I'm finally recovered (physically, anyway), I thought I'd share with you a few pics and maybe a couple of thoughts on the events of last weekend.

First, we rock a number with Satan on the drums. Note that while he has hidden his horns--probably with the help of black magic--his wings are quite apparent. The fact that they're white is purposefully deceiving. I had always suspected this of Mr. Young...

Here's a nice pic of me and Shawn, me with my trusty Jazzmaster, Shawn wielding the SG (like no other can):

And finally, here's a pic of me receiving a DMA for Best Pop Band at the show. I confess I don't look too comfortable in this pic, but Rob sure seems delighted with the whole thing...

Click here for an article about the award in Metromix.
Bos Taurus rocked Kelley's Logan House last Saturday night!! (see pics below)

...oh, yeah, and there were these other two bands playing too...what were their names again?...Oh, right - the Cocks and the Knobs too!!

All joking aside, this was a special event for the Knobs, who, led by Bos Taurus's own Phil Young, rocked the biggest crowd I've ever seen at the Logan House, bar none. Check out the photos uploaded to the Knobs myspace page. The Cocks started the show in top fashion, debuting a couple of new tunes and breaking in their excellent new drummer, Pete (sorry Pete, I don't know your last name yet!). I'll post some pics of that when I have them. Or, you can check to see if they post any of them on the Cocks myspace page.

Here are some pics of Bos Taurus from the show:

The band...

Steve and the Godfather...

The crowd...

See?
Hey folks. We have another review of It's Plain, this one compliments of Steve over at Absolute Powerpop. I've added it to the Press page, so be sure to check it out.

Also, we have a couple of gigs coming up in February, the first one on Saturday, the 7th at Kelley's Logan House in Wilmington, DE. We're playing with the Cocks and the Knobs (coming back to do a posthumous, one-time-only record release party) Both bands are also from Delaware.

Oh, I'm so sorry for you. Yeah, you. I'm talking to you. You, whoever missed the show at Mojo 13 last night with us, Caterpillar. This Show is Fire, and Caves of Mercury.

You know why? Because it was a great show and there were lots of people there. To name a few: Rob Kalesse from Spark, Ryan Cormier and Ed Kenney from the News Journal, and some dork with a black eye who danced in front of the stage during our entire set, shouting unnecessary encouragement, probably a few obscenities and God knows what else. Actually, while I'm sure he's a perfectly nice guy, he's lucky I didn't kick him in the face last night.

Anyway, pics coming soon. Ya'll be good now, y'hear?
